  1. Jason

Fantastic lighter. The extension is not flimsy. Make sure you pick up the adapter to fill it from hiking canisters. It is fairly wind resistant and lights on all angles of orientation.

  2. Bob

Pay attention to the altitude rating. They are not kidding when they say it will not operate above the prescribed altitude. Carry backup firestarter.

  3. Harry

You are paying $25 and the refilling adapter is not included? So with the additional $15, it ends up becoming a very pricy gadget for an advanced lighter. Wind-resistant is good but honestly even with the adapter, I wasn’t sure how long it would last as mine stopped working the next day even though I barely used it. Unless SOTO doesn’t include the adapter in their package, I would say to just stick to the type you put a BIC lighter in which I remember not having issue years ago when I owned one.

You do not need the fill adapter if you purchase fuel from a grocery like Fred Meyers that has canned fuel (see Bronson Multifill). Actually, few consumers purchase the fill adapter for their pocket torch.

Also, if your torch quit working please email sotousainc@gmail.com and we will send you a brand new pocket torch at no charge to you. SOTO stands behind their product. (We don’t check comments on the website very often, though.)

      Warmly,

Excellent product! Even better customer service! It burns every different type of butane I’ve put in it. used it as my around the house lighter for candles, fire pit, grill igniter, etc For about 5 years until I had trouble with The igniter. I called customer service to see if there was anything I could do to repair it and they sent me a new one that day! Love this company and their products! Thank you!

  5. Abel Gora

Its a great lighter but within. A month of owning it it will no longer light even though it clicks.

  6. Ram

The torch was working good and recently it does not switch off (This is a older model). I called the company and filed a warrenty claim. They immediately replaced with a newer model. Today I tested it and works great. Great service. I recomend it.

SOTO pocket torch is a product that I love ! I owned this item for over one year. During this period, have used it in a number of my outdoor adventures. It burns pretty well, regardless of wind. I have not had any issue or concern with this product apart from the fact that it is doing the intended purpose just too well!

  8. John

I own multiple SOTO stoves, lighters and other products. They are all incredibly well made and the Pocket Torch XT is no exception. Their customer service is also outstanding.

  9. Brian

Love this lighter and it’s versatility. Also the customer service behind the product is excellent. Buy with confidence.

  10. Jim

So-so lighter, it tends to stop burning when trying to light with the torch upside down, for instance when lighting an alcohol stove, one has to make several efforts to get it to light, as soon as you turn the torch upside down to put it down into the stove, the lighter goes out. I bought this specifically to light an alcohol stove, so it is almost not useful, sadly

  11. Jwk

Found out a bit too late that these types of lighter does not work well above 5000′ elevation. When trying at home at sea level, it worked every time but above 5000′, it did not work reliably at all. Something to keep in mind and perhaps should be added into the description for information.

    • Cindy Sekiguchi

Thank you so much for your comment. We had it hidden in the longer description. It is now in the short description as well as in the longer description. We do very much appreciate your comment.

  12. Simon

I really like this lighter! Not exactly sure how many years I’ve had it (at least 5+) but its always worked well for me. I don’t do any extreme camping, but I’m pretty hard on the things I own and thus far it has held up pretty well. There are things that I can do with it that can’t be done with a Bic lighter, so it comes in handy for lots of things besides lighting fires. It doesn’t leak over long periods of time and the extended neck expands my options. Not burning my fingers are also a big plus. I was never aware of any issues with it until I visited this site, so maybe it is a good idea to have a back-up, but I would never be without it!

  13. Stephen Morimoto

My first XT had issues not lighting.
Contacted customer support and they replaced it with no charge.
The new one works as intended and is fantastic!
Kudos to customer support for actually supporting their products.
Also own the windmaster which is a fantastic stove.

What a fine company to deal with!!
My soto torch stopped working! Visited the store that I purchased it from. Shop told me that the torch does not have a lifetime warranty and that nothing can be done to replace it!! What a disappointment!! I got in-touch with Soto company which sent me in a courier a brand new replacement tool. So cool!!!

  15. Keith Messingschlager

I’ve owned my SOTO Pocket Torch XT for seven years and it has served me well. Recently, it started working intermittently and then stopped lighting all together. I contacted customer service and they immediately shipped me a brand lighter at no charge. I did not expect that kind of response. Thank you so much, Cindy! 🙂

  16. Benjamin Tennant

I’ve loved this tool. It works great for starting fires with wet wood. After owning it for a lot of years it started failing and leaking gas. But I was pleasantly surprised when they sent me a replacement for free.

  17. Thomas Bailey

Love this Torch! Cindy Sekiguchi & Tomo Sekiguchi, Both of you are the best!

  18. Jeff Breen

This is a brilliant bit of kit. I did wonder how to replace the flint in the igniter but it seems that they last a long time. Reading the reviews on here the customer service is first class. I also have the Windmaster stove which is the best gas stove I have ever owned.
P.S. I find the pocket torch does work well in cold conditions. Just warm it in your hand for a few seconds to vapourise the gas in the reservoir, and or keep it in a warm pocket.
